St. Luke Preschool

St. Luke Preschool has a full range of classes for the preschool student.    (view full brochure in pdf format)

2K
Beginning with our 2k program children are introduced to the classroom environment. The goals in this classroom cover physical, social, mental and spiritual areas. Our highly experienced 2K teacher welcomes and nurtures each child while instructing them in proper classroom behavior. Learning is emphasized by structured free play and other activities.

St. Luke Preschool currently offers 3-day and 5-day a week options for 2K

3K
For many children the 3K year begins their classroom journey. In this year, the program consists of a yearlong exploration of the alphabet with stories and arts and crafts. Plenty of time remains for free play in this early educational environment.
St. Luke Preschool currently offers 3-day and 5-day a week options for 3K.

4K
The 4K year at St. Luke reinforces the recognition of the alphabet and introduces the student to the 5 core components of reading instruction. In addition, an introduction to Math is conducted using the Saxon Math Program. As with all classes, the 4K program in enriched with hands-on activities and music in a Christian environment.

5K
In this very important year of Preschool, our students are prepared for their entrance into Primary school. The English Language Arts curriculum consists of the integration of Houghton Mifflin Theme cycles and the SC curriculum standards. Alpha Kids, Scholastic, and Harcourt readers are used for guided reading in a way that incorporates various learning centers that use all of the 6 language arts.
Saxon Math for the kindergarten level learner is the focus of the mathematics curriculum. Saxon Math incorporates manipulatives into the learning process and follows with a daily take home sheet.

Additional Activities
Music: a music program is a weekly part of each class
Field Trips: each year the Preschool makes two trips to our local McLeod Farms for pumpkins in the Fall and strawberries in the Spring.

Trike A Thon: Each year St. Luke Preschool raises money for St. Judes Research Hospital through a Trike-A-Thon. To date we have raised over $11,000 for this worthwhile cause.

History of our Preschool

The St. Luke Church Preschool opened its doors in 1985. Over the past 20 years, hundreds of children have come through our doors to begin the first steps of their educational journey.

Our program is dedicated to the spiritual, emotional, social and physical well being of the young child. In 2006, we responded to a need in our community for more private 5-year-old kindergarten options. Currently, this first 5K class has exceeded expectations and is developing tools to succeed in Primary Education.

We are constantly striving to improve our Preschool ministry through our hardworking Preschool Director, Children's Ministry Director, and Preschool Governing Board.
