“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61:1-3 (NIV)

In strategic partnership with Christians in the United States and Brazil, working alongside the nationals in Ghana, the Jernigan’s share the love and healing power of Jesus Christ through medical care and pastoral ministry to the people of Ghana.
In answer to God’s specific call on our lives we are to work in Ghana, West Africa. Our vision is to see people come to worship and know Jesus. We have a heart for the nations, for all people, to see them embrace the Father and see our Father God embrace them. Through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in and throug h us we are sure that we are to be in Ghana at this time in our lives.
We are open to however it develops. As missionaries (newly termed ‘cross cultural witnesses’) with The Mission Society we committed to an initial term of service of five years.
Since Jesus is our model and since his mission was to proclaim good news to the poor and minister to the needs of prisoners, blind and oppressed peoples everywhere, our mission today is to be understood in the same or similar terms. Rather than community development, we ask you to pray that the work we do will be transformational development. Transformational development reflects our concern for seeking positive change in whole of human life materially, socially and spiritually primarily through our expanded Christian witness.
Our vision is to move to the village of Amakom on Lake Bosumtwe in central Ghana. It’s about an hour and a half drive to Amakom from Kumasi. There are about thirty villages in the area, twenty four of which are on the shores of the lake, with a total population of 25,000-30,000 people. The Lake Bosumtwe Methodist Clinic is a means where we can share healing and hope, physical and spiritual. For some time now the clinic has been manned by a mid-wife ( Angela), an accountant and general laborers, and a missionary doctor would visit about one day once every three weeks. The excitement and hope in Angela’s eyes when we first visited and told us that she had been praying for us to come still shines in us. Andrew through his administrative skills and pastor’s heart and calling along with Juliana’s love for children as a pediatrician (although here the only doctor at this point) are vessels in God’s hands.
